Dwayne Johnson Gives Update on Kevin Hart: "Everything Is Good"

Kevin Hart was supposed to be Kelly Clarkson’s first guest on her new talk show The Kelly Clarkson Show. But, Dwayne Johnson had to step in for his friend after he suffered “major back injuries” in a car crash on Malibu’s Mulholland Highway during Labor Day weekend.

Taking a break from his honeymoon for the appearance, Johnson told Clarkson that he had talked to Hart – who he refers to as his son – and “everything is good.” He also told the new talk show host that Hart was “bummed” he had to miss the taping.

“And you know what? These things happen in life and thankfully he was strapped in nicely to his car seat,” joked Johnson. “That’s real love.”

The Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle star did get serious and say that he loves Hart and he is one of his best friends. Johnson was thankful because things could have been a lot worse, and Hart knows he is a lucky man.

“I wish him the best and a speedy recovery and I’m gonna see him soon,” said Johnson.

According to the New York Daily News, sources say that Hart suffered three spine fractures when the car his friend Jared Black was driving swerved off the road and rolled down an embankment before landing in a ditch. The 40-year-old is reportedly in “excruciating pain,” but he is walking and making progress.

Hart had to have emergency surgery to fuse two fractures in the thoracic and one in the lumbar.

Authorities say that alcohol was not involved in the crash, but it’s possible that Black was speeding.

As for Johnson, he married his longtime love Lauren Hashian on August 18th in a private ceremony in Hawaii. The couple was able to keep things simple and tie the knot without the press or paparazzi. Their daughters Jasmine Lia, 3, and Tiana Gia, 1, were with their parents when they became husband and wife.

Dwayne Johnson says that Hashian didn’t mind that he took a brief break from their honeymoon to fill in for Hart on The Kelly Clarkson Show because she is a big fan of the American Idol winner.
