You’re probably aware by now of the fact that Dwyane Wade has been incredibly supportive of his son Zion. The proud father always stood by his 12-year-old son regardless of all that haters had to say, and Gabrielle Union also offered her complete support at all times.

Now, according to the latest info coming from The Shade Room, his son will go by the name Zaya.

Dwyane and Gabrielle are amazing examples of parents who have embraced their kids for who they truly are and supported them no matter what.

The loving dad was invited to the Ellen DeGeneres Show where he talked about Zion’s coming out.

‘He recalled the moment his 12-year-old made the decision to go by the name Zaya and to be referred to by she/her pronouns,’ TSR writes.

He reportedly said: ‘So once Zaya, our 12-year-old, came home and said, ‘Hey, I want to talk to you guys. I think going forward I’m ready to live my truth. I want to be referenced as she and her, I would love for you guys to call me Zaya.’’

The father also made sure to highlight just how proud he and Gabrielle are these days:

‘Me and my wife Gabrielle Union are proud parents of a child in the LGBTQ+ community, and we are proud allies as well. We take our roles and our responsibility as parents very seriously,’ he said and you should watch the video to see what more he had to say about all this.

As expected, this triggered an immense debate in the comments. Some people support Wade but others say that the child is too young to know who he is.

Someone said: ‘When you accept your child at a young age they won’t grow up looking for acceptance in drugs, men or women. Learn to listen to your kids I didn’t say let them control your house but we have to understand that our kids are still human and will have their own lives at one point and you will regret anything that happens to your child because you are to self-centered to love your child for what they are.’

Another follower posted this: ‘I just don’t feel at 12 you truly know who and what you wanna be my opinion.’

Someone else said: ‘So if your kid decided to smoke crack you would send them to rehab right? Why is this the exception?’

One other commenter posted this: ‘If you don’t agree with it (like me) just mind your own business and raise your kid how you see fit (like I am doing). TBH I’m just happy he’s in his kids’ life, more power to their journey.’
