When Shane Dawson uploaded his video exploring the conspiracy theory that Chuck E. Cheese’s recycles pizza, it’s unlikely he realized just how far a reach he’d have. He did carefully word his statements and made it clear that he was not stating facts or trying to harm Chuck E. Cheese’s as a business yet when he offered his own experience going into a Chuck E. Cheese’s restaurant in California, people were as shocked as he was to see a pizza delivered to the table that didn’t contradict the theory.
The fallout continued on Wednesday with more people on social media vowing never to eat Chuck E. Cheese’s pizza again while many are now questioning online why their pizzas do not look like typical, round pies.
Media outlets have covered the story and local news stations are now picking it up. Shane Dawson’s viewers are requesting that a streaming network such as Hulu or Netflix pick up Dawson so he can make the move from YouTube to television.
A representative for Chuck E. Cheese’s reached out to this outlet to unequivocally deny the allegations the conspiracy theory sets forth. You may read the statement below.
“The claims made in this video about Chuck E. Cheese’s and our pizza are unequivocally false. No conspiracies here – our pizzas are made to order and we prepare our dough fresh in restaurant, which means that they’re not always perfectly uniform in shape, but always delicious.”
If you haven’t watched the video, you can see it in the player below.
Some responses to Shane’s video are interesting. While some say they won’t eat at Chuck E. Cheese’s again, there are many employees who have publicly stated the theory is false.
One person said the cheese slices change shape when they are being removed from the pan to the serving tray.
Another person said they were rethinking every Chuck E. Cheese’s childhood moment. Some have thanked Shane for taking a closer look at the conspiracy theory.
One person vowed to get a job at Chuck E. Cheese’s to find out the truth.
