Fans Think Justin Timberlake's Apology Is Just A 'Publicity Stunt' But Sources Say He's Being Genuine

Justin Timberlake recently came forward to apologize to both Britney Spears and Janet Jackson, and a lot of people on social media were suspicious that his apology wasn’t genuine, however, sources with Page Six claim it was.

An insider who spoke with Page Six said today that Justin really did it all on his own, before going on to say that it wasn’t about “publicity” either. This Friday, in case you missed it, the 40-year-old singer-songwriter released a long IG post addressing his relationship with Britney and also how the media treated Janet Jackson following their disastrous 2004 Super Bowl performance.

Britney Spears fans came forward to hate on Justin Timberlake following the release of the new documentary from the New York Times, Framing Britney Spears, which is about her trials and tribulations in the spotlight as well as her conservatorship battle that has raged on for the last few years.

The documentary featured a segment where Justin said on a radio show that he had slept with Spears, and his camp told him it was a good idea for him to act like she had cheated on him in order to continue getting publicity and attention for his career.

Additionally, fans were unhappy with Mr. Timberlake due to the lack of consequences for him even though he had also participated in the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show alongside Janet Jackson. The singer-songwriter ripped off part of her outfit to expose her bare breast, which wasn’t part of the show, leading to a massive controversy, although, as the story goes, much of the criticism was levied at Janet and not Justin.

Timberlake went on to say in his statement that he respected both Britney and Janet Jackson for who they are as people and as artists, but he had to admit that he failed. The pop-star then apologized for being a white male celebrity and said the system was set up for him to succeed.

Another source who spoke with the New York Post’s Page Six said Timberlake is incredibly serious about playing his part in the battle for social justice. The insider says Justin knows that he has benefitted from such situations before.
