Fashion historian revealed the meaning of Kate Moss' outfit at a meeting in the case of Heard and Depp

Fashion historian Kate Strasdin of Falmouth University said that Kate Moss’s look defied the traditional dress code in courtrooms. It is reported by The Guardian.

The model chose a white polka-dot blouse with a bow and a fitted black jacket to appear in court. According to the fashion historian, this outfit can be called typical for formal events, but there are many hidden nuances in it.

“Historically, such a look is associated with women who begin to invade men’s space and challenge traditional dress codes,” says fashion expert Keith Strasdin of Falmouth University.
Muscular suits paired with silk blouses were popularized in the 1960s by Coco Chanel. Designer Yves Saint Laurent resorted to the same stylization when he created the first women’s tuxedo in 1966. Subsequently, Le Smoking became associated with the feminist movement in fashion. Blouses with bows have become one of the main elements of Margaret Thatcher’s wardrobe. According to rumors, she called them “softening and beautiful” in combination with a jacket.

The image of Kate Moss at the meeting, according to Kate Strasdin, was more reminiscent of not Thatcher’s outfit but Le Smoking. “She almost recreated that iconic 1966 Helmut Newton look,” says Strasdin.
