Felicity Huffman Expected To Plead Guilty At Upcoming Trial

According to a report from USAToday, Felicity Huffman is set to appear in a Boston federal court on Monday afternoon where she will plead guilty in the college admissions scandal. USA Today claims it’s the biggest college admissions scandal the nation has seen thus far in its history.

Formerly a star on Desperate Housewives, Felicity is expected to plead guilty to honest services mail fraud and conspiracy to commit mail fraud for giving money to Rick Singer, the perpetrator behind the entire scheme. Felicity reportedly agreed to pay Singer $15,000 so an official could correct her daughter’s answers on the SATs.

The 56-year-old star is supposed to appear before United States District Court Judge Indira Talwani, who will decide on whether she should accept the plea agreement that Huffman bargained back in April of this year.

In exchange for her guilty plea, Huffman will serve approximately four months to ten months in prison, for crimes carrying a maximum sentence of twenty years. The Justice Department asked for a minimal sentence in exchange for her guilty plea.

The United States Attorney’s Office recommended she gets 12 months of supervised release and pay an undetermined amount of money as compensation. Huffman publicly apologized for her actions, stating last month that she was feeling “deep regret” for the things she did.

In her statement, the actress admitted to pain and shame, as well as the fact she dragged her daughter, who supposedly didn’t know about her actions, down with her. Moreover, Felicity said sorry to all of those hard-working individuals out there who got into college honestly.

Lori Loughlin, on the other hand, has pled not guilty to the very same charges, as her attornies explained to her that they have a convincing case to thwart potential imprisonment.

Sources previously said to Us Weekly that Lori and her lawyers believe that when the public gets all of the information, they won’t have the same negative view of her as they once did. While the scandal affected dozens of people, there were two famous names on the list, therefore, the media has paid a disproportionate amount of attention to them.
