'Fifty Shades' Star Jamie Dornan Opens Up About Trying To Break Away From Being Christian Grey

Prior to Fifty Shades of Grey, most fans recognized Jamie Dornan as Sheriff Graham on ABC’s hit show, Once Upon A Time.

That all changed after Dornan landed the part of Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey. While the actor is moving on with his career in Hollywood, he still struggles with always being recognized for his role in the popular erotic drama.

According to Cinema Blend, Dornan recently opened up about trying to break free from the Fifty Shades character and said he hopes that fans will soon recognize him for his other work.

“Sometimes and I struggle with that. I might be fighting this my entire career. I hope not. You just want to keep trying to improve yourself and better yourself,” Dornan explained.

Dornan talked about his struggles while promoting his new film, A Private War. The movie, in which Dornan plays a photographer, has been met with great reviews and is hovering around 89 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Another one of Dornan’s movie this year, My Dinner With Herve, was also well received by the critics, which proves that Dornan is equipped to take on different roles.

That does not, of course, mean that every project Dornan accepts will succeed.

He also played a part in the latest Robin Hood adaptation, which starred Jamie Foxx and Taron Egerton. The film did not do well in the box office, though it does show off a bit of Dornan’s range.

Although Dornan is working hard to separate himself from Christian Grey, he understands that the Fifty Shades franchise has opened a lot of doors in Hollywood.

Beyond a big payout, Dornan admitted that he probably would have never starred in films like A Private War if it had not been for Fifty Shades of Grey and the popularity it brought.

Moving forward, Dornan has vowed never to take on a role like Christian Grey ever again, though that could change if it changed how fans viewed him.

Jamie Dornan’s latest movie, A Private War, was released in a limited run in November.
