Flipping Out stars Jeff Lewis and Gage Edward have called it quits after ten years together. On Thursday, Lewis revealed on his XM radio show Jeff Lewis Live that Edward has moved out of the house that they shared with their two-year-old daughter, Monroe, and is now living in a hotel.

Lewis explained that for nearly a year, he and Edward had been living in separate rooms in their home, and Edward finally moved out on Wednesday because they couldn’t work through their problems.

“This has been a long time coming. We were in separate rooms a significant portion of last year, so it was kind of like a roommate situation,” Lewis said. “I think the reason we hadn’t ripped the Band-Aid off and separated is because a) we had the baby and neither one of us want to leave the baby and then b) financially, it wasn’t the best time because I have four properties right now — three of which are in construction and one of which is sellable.”

When a caller asked about the custody of Monroe, Lewis said that he didn’t want to talk about it, but he did admit earlier in the show that he was a “single dad” and the baby is currently with him.

Lewis said that recently he and Edward had been more like “friends with benefits” instead of in a relationship. He said that the hookups were inconsistent and there was a lack of intimacy because they weren’t sharing a room.

This made it difficult for the two of them to part ways because the hookups encouraged Lewis and he thought that there was still something between them. However, he still felt lonely, sad, and disappointed.

According to People Magazine, it wasn’t until Edward told Lewis that the arrangement wasn’t working that Lewis asked Edward to move out. Lewis says that he made it clear to Edward that he wasn’t throwing him out or breaking up, but he was giving him time and space so he could get some perspective.

Lewis said that he hopes Edward gets some clarity because he is currently so angry that he “has lost sight of the good things.”

Lewis added that the last year was hell, but he still has good memories of nine solid years.

The 48-year-old Lewis also admitted that he hopes there is more to come for him and Edward. He wants him to wake up, miss his family, and focus on the positive.
