French Montana Puts Swae Lee On Blast On IG Over Released Track 'Powerglide'

According to French Montana, he came up with the idea for “Powerglide” from Rae Sremmurd but claims he never received any credit for it. In case you missed it, French Montana has been all over the media headlines lately, sometimes even calling up these outlets directly on his own, Hot New Hip Hop claims.

Moreover, French Montana sparked even more controversy when he claimed to have more big hits than his contemporary, the critically acclaimed Kendrick Lamar. Lamar, of course, never even bothered to respond.

Getting back to the topic at hand, French Montana insinuated in a new interview that he was the one to structure the hit record, Unforgettable, with Swae Lee. The Rae Sremmurd artist apparently wasn’t happy about the claim either.

During his conversation with Billboard Magazine, French Montana said he was the one who produced “Powerglide” for Rae Sremmurd but was never compensated for it. Now that there is some bad blood between them, French Montana explained, he’ll be coming after the royalties.

Furthermore, French Montana suggested he wasn’t happy either with the way Swae Lee released another version of the song but without him on it.

As it was noted above, French Montana has been in the media headlines for all the wrong reasons lately. When the coronavirus pandemic first began, however, French did have some poignant remarks to make regarding the state of the music industry, especially rappers.

Montana suggested that the pandemic was going to shine a light on all the rappers out there who aren’t good at handling their finances. With most of the United States on lockdown right now – although, the country has started reopening again – artists are unable to put on performances and make money as they once did.

Furthermore, Montana got into a social media feud with Young Thug regarding his aforementioned comments regarding Kendrick Lamar, and the idea that he had a lot more hit songs than him. Although to be fair, Montana did admit that Lamar had “masterpiece” albums, and he had nothing but respect and admiration for him as an artist.
