She continued and said: ‘Smith represented the United States on the under-17 national team in 2016, was called up to the senior US national team in 2017, played for Stanford University’s team, won the national title in 2019, and was selected by the Thorns as the top overall pick in 2020. At only 20, Smith has achieved so much in her professional career, and I can’t wait to watch her continue to shine on and off the field! Let us lift her up in the light of goodness and hold her there.’
