Game of Thrones has taken the lives of many characters over the past seven seasons. With the eighth and final season finally underway, here is a look back at some of the most shocking GOT deaths and where the actors are now.

Khal Drogo

Jason Momoa has reprised his role as Khal Drogo several times and has successfully made the transition to the big screens. The actor most recently starred as the eponymous hero of DC’s Aquaman.

Robert Baratheon

Mark Addy did not live through the first season of Game of Thrones as King Robert Baratheon, but he has gone on to work on a number of projects on television and the big screens. Addy appeared on the popular British series, Doctor Who, as well as Atlantis and Mary Poppins Returns.

Ned Stark

Ned Stark’s (Sean Bean) death during the Season 1 finale was easily one of the most shocking in the history of the show. Bean has not been involved in any big projects since, but he did appear alongside Richard Madden on the show Medici.

Robb Stark

The Red Wedding shocked many fans, but it didn’t hurt Richard Madden’s career. The actor took home a Golden Globe for his role in the series, Bodyguard, and impressed fans in Cinderella.

Catelyn Stark

Michelle Fairley met a tragic end alongside Richard Madden, but she has gone on to land multiple roles over the years. This includes parts in 24: Live Another Day, The White Princess, and Resurrection.

Joffrey

Jack Gleeson’s Joffrey was probably one of the most disliked characters in all of television. Shortly after the hated role, Gleeson stepped away from acting to pursue a different career choice.

Many fans were hoping that Rose Leslie’s Ygritte would end up happily ever after with Jon Snow (Kit Harington), but the series chose a different route.

Fortunately, Leslie ended up with Jon in real life, tying the knot with Harington back in 2018. She is currently starring on the show The Good Fight.
