‘Game of Thrones’ is known for two things: killing favorite characters and extreme shock value. Sunday’s episode made more people upset than ever before.
Let this serve as your official spoiler alert. Daenarys Targaryen officially went mental and literally ‘burned them all’ once she heard the sound of the surrendering bells. It wasn’t necessarily the fact that the actions come as a complete shock — fans are upset about the total character assassination of multiple beloved and not-so-beloved key personalities.
The newest and final season of the HBO megahit seemed to be beautifully written until the end of episode three where things seemed to start falling apart. From having the smartest character (Tyrion Lannister) fall victim to his evil sister’s plots more than once to completely abandoning the ‘promised prince(ss)’ prophecy — fans are not happy with the direction the show has been going.
Add in the infamous ‘Starbucks’ cup and the underwhelming death of Cersei and Jamie Lannister and you’ve got a case of lazy writing.
“That episode was even worse than the last. are they really going to ruin this series in the last 3 episodes.”
“From what i’ve seen so far i could’ve wrote this season of GOT and it would’ve been about the same.”
“People arguing that Dany’s story have been building to this for years is just proof we need comprehensive media literacy as part of public education.”
“I HAVE BEEN DREAMING OF CERSEI’S DEATH FOR A LONG TIME NOW AND THIS IS WHAT I GOT?! OH NO! OH NOOO I AM NOT SATISFIED! SHE NEEDED TO SUFFER AND BEG FOR DEATH!!! IM PISSED OFF & YOU RUINED EVERYTHING YOU HEAR THAT WEISS AND BENIOFF.”
In fact, this was ‘Game of Thrones’ worst reviewed episode. Rotten Tomatoes rated it 49% — the lowest ever.
Do you think the writers of ‘GOT’ lost their touch? Are you enjoying the current season?
