As with any celebrity passing, the media brings up the good and bad part of the deceased person’s life. Gayle King was recently trashed by fans and celebrities alike after a clip where she questioned Lisa Leslie about her close friend Kobe Bryant’s legacy and rape case.

In a video shared by CBS, Gayle asks the WNBA legend if his legacy was complicated because of the accusations brought against him earlier in his career.

Lisa handled the question gracefully by saying that she didn’t see him as the kind of person that would aggressively violate a woman. King seemed to push her by saying that as his friend — she wouldn’t see it.

Still, Lisa remained to answer her questions gracefully by saying that the media should drop it.

Many viewers and celebrities slammed Oprah’s BFF for the inappropriate interview claiming that she is tarnishing a dead man’s name while his family is still in mourning.

Gayle, who now claims she initially didn’t know that the clip was posted, took to Instagram to explain her side of the story and slam CBS for their actions.

‘Unbeknownst to me, my network put up a clip from a very wide-ranging interview. [It was] totally out of context and when you see it that way, it’s very jarring. I’ve been advised to say nothing, just let it go. ‘People will drag you, people will troll you. It will be over in a couple of days.’ But that’s not good enough for me because I really want people to understand what happened here,’ she explained.

‘It was very powerful when she looked me in the eye as a member of the media and said, ‘It is time for the media to leave it alone and back off. For the network to take the most salacious part, when taken out of context, and put it up online … is very upsetting to me.’
