Gayle King’s future at CBS remains in question as the long-time anchor has yet to finalize a deal to stay on CBS This Morning. Inside sources claim that both sides are still ironing out details on King’s multi-million dollar contract – which could prompt her to look for another job.

“I don’t know why they don’t just throw $18 million at her and get this done,” one source dished.

King’s contract is not the only one up in the air. According to Page Six, reports indicate that Bianna Golodryga is losing her spot on the show after six months on the job. There is also some concern about the future of CBS Evening News with Jeff Glor, as staffers still do not know if the studio will be moved to Washington DC in the event that Norah O’Donnell takes the reigns.

It is unclear why CBS has not offered a more lucrative contract to keep King on board. The network recently named Susan Zirinsky as the new president of CBS News, and her biggest concern is sustaining good ratings in the morning.

In fact, the network receives higher advertisement revenues in the mornings than it does in the evenings, which is why CBS This Morning has become top priority.

The morning talk show has remained third in ratings for quite some time, and Charlie Rose’s scandal disrupted the chemistry on set. CBS tried to remedy things by adding Golodryga and John Dickerson to the mix, but things have not worked out. This is one reason why Golodryga was given the boot, as Zirinsky apparently thought having four anchors on staff was too many.

King has not commented about her future on the show. Until her contract is either renewed or ended, CBS will be hard pressed to move forward with any plans.

Given Gayle King’s recent string of high-profile interviews, including her chats with R. Kelly and the Jackson family, the network needs to keep her if they want to boost ratings.
