George Floyd’s Brother, Philonise, On The Alleged Crime That Led To His Murder - ‘Is That What A Black Man Is Worth — $20?’

George Floyd’s brother, Philonise really hopes that his tragic death will not be in vain! While testifying before the House Judiciary Committee earlier today, the man demanded that action will be taken against police brutality so that what happened to George will not happen ever again.

Philonise got emotional and shed tears while remembering his ‘big brother,’ the brother he will unfortunately never be able to see again.

He confessed that he was ‘tired. I’m tired of the pain I am feeling now and I am tired of the pain I feel every time another black person’s killed for no reason. I am here today to ask you to make it stop. Stop the pain. Stop us from being tired.’

He begged the lawmakers to make sure that George Floyd’s passing won’t be in vain and that positive changes that will benefit the black community and American society in general will take place.

As he tried to hold back tears, the mourning brother went on: ‘This is 2020. Enough is enough. The people marching in the streets are telling you enough is enough. Be the leaders that this country, this world, needs. Do the right thing. The people elected you to speak up for them, to make positive changes. George’s name means something. You have the opportunity to make your names mean something, too.’

As you know, George was killed by a cop in the street while people filmed after he was arrested on suspicions that he bought a pack of cigarettes with a counterfeit $20 bill.

The police officer responsible, Derek Chauvin, kneeled on his neck for almost 9 minutes, including well after he had become unresponsive.

The brother mentioned the arrest that led to his murder as well, arguing that he did not deserve to die over $20 before asking: ‘is that what a black man is worth?’
