Greta Thunberg Gets Rare Apology From Fox News; Will Donald Trump Do The Same?

After a dramatic speech delivered by climate activist Greta Thunberg at the United Nations, responses were mixed.

Many praised the teenager for her bravery and willingness to go the extra mile in helping the planet, while others have taken the opportunity to criticize Thunberg, her mental health, and her stance.

Among the latter were President Donald Trump, who made fun of Thunberg’s negative attitude, and Fox News guest Michael Knowles, who referred to Thunberg as a “mentally ill Swedish child.”

Knowles said: “The climate hysteria movement is not about science. If it were about science, it would be led by scientists, rather than by politicians and a mentally ill Swedish child who is being exploited by her parents and by the international left.”

The comment has resulted in a nasty backlash against Fox News, with many calling them out for their insensitive attitude towards people suffering from mental health-related problems.

Thunberg, who suffers from Asperger’s, has been very vocal about her position regarding climate change and has been a controversial figure on the public stage since she started delivering speeches on the topic.

Knowles, who made the controversial comment, went on to say that Thunberg has autism, OCD, and selective mutism — topping it off with allegations of depression as well.

The network was quick to issue an apology, but it might have been too late, judging by the responses they have received online so far.

Many, who claim to have been active supporters of Fox News, have expressed their disappointment with the network’s attitude and stance on the manner, and have even accused Fox of trying to sabotage the progress towards climate change.

Fox News pointed out that Knowles was just a guest on their show, implying that his opinions were not indicative of the network’s views as a whole, but that did not seem to do much to calm down the masses.

The statement read: “The comment made by Michael Knowles, who was a guest on The Story tonight was disgraceful — we apologize to Greta Thunberg and to our viewers.”

In a recent tweet, Thunberg addressed the topic by saying: “When haters go after your looks and differences, it means they have nowhere left to go. And then you know you’re winning! I have Aspergers, and that means I’m sometimes a bit different from the norm. And – given the right circumstances- being different is a superpower.#aspiepower.”

Trump seemed to have moved on.
