This past Tuesday, Harvey Weinstein’s attornies claimed his recent disheveled look on his way into court wasn’t an act. He’s about to receive back surgery. Harvey’s leading lawyer, Donna Rotunno, released a statement in which she stated the disgraced mogul was about to receive back surgery following a serious car accident in August.
According to Page Six, Harvey Weinstein’s summer car crash led to a concussion as well as the need for an operation. He has since been using a walker to help him walk. The 67-year-old, who reportedly has stopped at several Manhattan venues last month, walked into the court with a limp.
Multiple outlets pointed out that the former Miramax owner, who suffers from several health issues including diabetes, didn’t look in great health. Rotunno claims Harvey was adamant about not bringing his walker into the trial because he didn’t want to look like he was trying to garner sympathy.
Reported by the Post back in August, the outlet claims Harvey was involved in a car crash near his house in Westchester, New York. The former producer crashed his 2017 jeep into a tree after he swerved to miss a deer that ran out on the road.

This comes after it was reported that Harvey violated his terms of release regarding his ankle monitor. Reportedly, his bail was set to $1 million initially, and now the former producer is hoping it won’t be increased further.
As followers of the case know, Harvey is scheduled to go on trial on the 6th of January, and he faces life in prison related to five counts of sexual assault, a criminal sex act, as well as rape allegations from another woman.
Harvey has been accused of varying levels of misconduct from approximately 80 women, however, he was only slapped with charges regarding three of them.
The case against Harvey Weinstein – first brought to light by the New Yorker and the New York Times – also happened to be the same set of allegations that kicked off the #MeToo movement in late 2017.
