Harvey Weinstein's New Legal Team Includes Former Kobe Bryant And Casey Anthony Defender

Harvey Weinstein had to replace his legal team. According to a report from Vanity Fair, disgraced Hollywood producer, Harvey Weinstein, had to hire a new lawyer after his main attorney, Benjamin Brafman, left the case. Brafman had been handling his criminal sex charges since the very beginning.

Harvey’s new legal team will be taken care of by Jose Baez. The attorney is perhaps most famous for working with people such as Aaron Hernandez and Casey Anthony. Ronald S. Sullivan, the Harvard law professor, will also join the team.

In a statement to the publication, Vulture, Baez has confirmed he will work alongside Harvey Weinstein as will Pamela Robillard Mackey, who worked on the Kobe Bryant case in 2003. In a statement, Baez said Harvey has maintained his innocence, and he and the rest of the team will collaborate in his defense.

A spokesperson who spoke for Weinstein said they’re working to correct a narrative which has been shaped too much by others. Previously, Baez represented Anthony, the woman who was accused of murdering her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, in 2008.

In 2017, he represented the NFL star who was acquitted of murdering Daniel De Abreu and Safiro Furtado. However, Aaron Hernandez actually killed himself in prison, and that was the reason for the case never continuing as planned.

Coincidentally, Baez and Sullivan have worked with Rose McGowan, one of Harvey Weinstein’s accusers. The two attorneys were co-counsels in her drug possession case. When speaking with The Daily Beast, McGowan slammed both individuals for working with Weinstein.

Rose said in her statement that it was a “major conflict of interest,” and she knew there was some kind of “shadiness” going on behind the curtains. The star said she knew there was a reason her case didn’t go to trial. Her instincts were that her lawyers were paid off.

As a response, in their joint statement, Baez and Sullivan said they were pleased to represent Ms. Rose McGowan, in the case that was completely unrelated to Mr. Weinstein’s charges.
