According to multiple reports, a trial date for Harvey Weinstein’s next sexual assault case is set for May of this year. However, this date has been used as a basis for Weinstein and his attorneys to postpone another class-action lawsuit filed against him in a Manhattan Federal Court.
Harvey is being sued in a class-action lawsuit by multiple women who claim he either assaulted, harassed, or raped them, in a way that was both discriminatory and sexist. Weinstein’s civil attorney, Elior Shiloh, said that a postponement of seven months would allow his client to defend himself adequately.
However, reports indicate that the date hasn’t been announcing publicly by the Manhattan Supreme Court where his charges have been pending since May of last year. In state courts, criminal charges are regularly postponed, so it isn’t clear if the May 6th date will remain.

A Weinstein spokesperson said to the Daily News that the date was “unofficial and tentative.” As it was previously reported, Weinstein was accused of sexually assaulting a production assistant in 2006 and also raping another woman in 2013 while at a Doubletree Hotel.
In the ending months of 2017, Weinstein denied all of the allegations of non-consensual sex. However, he’s currently facing a minimum penalty of ten years if he’s convicted guilty.
This all began in October 2017 after the New York Times and The New Yorker published their devastating exposés on Harvey Weinstein and his behavior. After it finally came out, a cascade of women began accusing the disgraced producer of all kinds of abuse.
However, charges against Harvey were recently dropped when it was revealed that the prosecutor had declined to reveal that his employee had offered him sexual favors in exchange for a movie role.
Since the bombshell reports have come out, other men are now facing similar charges, including Kevin Spacey, who’s facing one count of sexual assault on an 18-year-old busboy. Louis CK, another Hollywood star, faced less serious allegations and thus far has no criminal charges laid against him.
