Hilaria Baldwin has explained why she went public with her miscarriage in real time, during a personal emotional essay to Glamour.
It all began with what she and husband, Alec Baldwin, thought would be a routine checkup with the doctor. Sadly, during the ultrasound, it was discovered the baby’s heartbeat was very slow. They continued to monitor the baby, but the heartbeat did not improve at the next appointment. After the second ultrasound, Hilaria said she knew the pregnancy was not going to stick.
Although she is still pregnant, the couple will find out for sure what is going on with the pregnancy later today. It was important for Hilaria to share her story as it was unfolding.

“At least sharing my story might help me and other women dealing with a miscarriage to find support. Almost every single one of my friends has experienced some kind of struggle with infertility or miscarriage. I had such a fear of miscarriage with each of my pregnancies that I’d google the probability of miscarriage each day. And yet we’re still so quiet about it. For me, this doesn’t make sense,” the mother of four shared in her essay.
Hilaria also shared she fully understands why some women choose not to share their heartbreaking stories. Suffering a miscarriage is an extremely personal experience and those enduring it need to process the loss in their own way. Losing a baby is not a one size fits all situation. Everyone has a unique story, voice and the choice to make it public.
Alec Baldwin’s wife also took time to address the criticism she endured for being so open as she struggles with the possibility of having a miscarriage.
“Critics say something so personal should stay quiet. But I want women to know if that’s not serving you, if that’s not the way that you’ll feel better, you don’t have to do that. I wanted to lead by example in saying that there’s another option out there,” she continued her message.

Hilaria Baldwin has gotten candid about a very personal experience, suffering a miscarriage. Unfortunately, people are slamming her for her choice to speak out on the subject, which only further proves she is correct in telling her story.
There is too much stigma surrounding what women deal with in private during the first trimester. She wants to crush the stereotype and open the dialogue for a meaningful conversation.
