Hilary Duff Announces That The 'Lizzie McGuire' Reboot Is Not Coming After All!

Sad news for all of the fans who were looking forward to seeing Lizzie McGuire on their screens once more! As it turns out, the reboot that was supposed to have Hilary Duff reprising her role, is not going to happen after all!

The actress herself took to social media to reveal that, in spite of everyone involved in the production doing their best, there was just no way to make it work!

Duff started her statement by mentioning that ‘I’ve been so honored to have the character of Lizzie [McGuire] in my life. She’s made such a long lasting impact on many, including myself. To see fans’ loyalty and love for her, even to this day, means so much to me. I know the efforts and the conversations have been everywhere trying to make the reboot work, but sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, it is not going to happen.’

She went on to stress that ‘I want any reboot of Lizzie McGuire to be honest and authentic to who she would be today. It is what the character deserves. We can take a moment to mourn the amazing woman that she would’ve been and the adventures we would’ve taken with her. I am very sad, but I promise that everyone tried their best and the stars just did not align. Hey now, this is what 2020 is made of.’

The disappointing update comes after initial reports in August of last year that the well known show would be getting a reboot about Lizzie all grown up, which would then air on Disney+!

There was even a first look at the series’ reboot shared back in January of this year but sadly, it turns out that it’s not going to happen after all!
