Host Of Live PD Hints That The Show Will Be Back After Cancellation -- Plus Rumors Live PD Covered Up A Film Police Custody Death

There hasn’t been a cop show phenomenon as popular as Live PD since COPS premiered decades ago. Now, in the wake of protests about police custody-related deaths — both of the shows have gotten the ax.
Cops has already had a bad reputation for how they portray interactions with black people.
Meanwhile, Live PD’s pull goes much deeper than that. It was revealed that the show filmed a police custody death last year after they stopped a 40-year-old black man for a dim headlight. The officer involved is said to have used a taser on the suspect who passed away.
The show cut the incident out of their program.

However, there may be hope for a new and improved version of A&E’s hit.
The network released a statement that read: ‘This is a critical time in our nation’s history and we have made the decision to cease production on ‘Live PD.’ Going forward, we will determine if there is a clear pathway to tell the stories of both the community and the police officers whose role it is to serve them. And with that, we will be meeting with community and civil rights leaders as well as police departments.’
Host Dan Abrams took to Twitter to talk about the state of the show and hinted that fans won’t be left hanging for too long.

He later added: ‘I am going to finally go to sleep but I just want to say one more thing to the #LivePDNation. Thank you for making this so much more than a tv show. You created a huge community of kind, caring people with whom I hope to stay in touch with in this next chapter. More tomorrow.’
