How Queen Elizabeth Helped Prep Meghan Markle For Life As A Royal

Two years ago, Meghan Markle was enjoying a career as a Hollywood actress, as she starred in the USA legal drama Suits. But once she confirmed her relationship with Prince Harry, Markle’s entire world changed overnight. Since then she has become the Duchess of Sussex and the mother of Archie Harrison, and to help her with the transition to living life in the royal family, Queen Elizabeth has “earmarked” Sophie, Countess of Wessex as her unofficial mentor.

According to royal expert Kate Nicholl, the Queen picked Sophie because she has a lot in common with Markle.

“The two spent time together at Royal Ascot last year and are understood to get along well,” explains Nicholl. “The pair share similar backgrounds, as Sophie, like Meghan, gave up a successful career in PR to marry into the royal family, so is in a position to help Meghan.”

Nicholls adds that Sophie is often at Windsor with her kids so they can ride horses and play in the castle, and she lives a quiet lifestyle that is similar to what Harry and Meghan want for Archie Harrison.

Sophie is the wife of Prince Edward and the mother of James, Viscount Severn, and Lady Louise Windsor. Like Harry and Meghan, Edward and Sophie decided not to raise their children as “prince and princess” because they wanted them to have a private childhood away from public scrutiny.

Harry and Meghan also moved out of the palace and into Frogmore Cottage at Windsor Castle to raise Archie Harrison in private, and according to The Express, the Queen could possibly give Harry and Meghan a new holiday home in the country.

Royal author Phil Dampier says that the obvious place for Harry and Meghan’s second home would be the Cotswolds. He explained that the couple had a place there in the past, and that is where many of Meghan’s friends live. Instead of a home in Norfolk near Anmer Hall – the country home of Prince William and Kate Middleton – Dampier says it would make more sense for Harry and Meghan to have their second home in the Cotswolds.

Dampier also claims that the royal properties will be reallocated when Queen Elizabeth passes away, and Harry and Meghan could end up with Highgrove House, the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall’s residence.

“Long-term when the Queen dies, they are going to have a lot of properties,” says Dampier. “Charles will have access to Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, Balmoral. He’s not going to need Highgrove, so the obvious thing would be for Highgrove to be a home for William or Harry.”
