Ice Cube Asks 'What's In It For Black People' Amid Closure Of Democratic National Convention

Not long after the Democratic National Convention came to a close, Ice Cube, the rapper, took to his social media to ask whether the Democrats even deserved to get the black vote this year. Joe Biden and his vice-presidential candidate, Kamala Harris, will face off against Trump and Mike Pence in this year’s election.

In a three-minute video uploaded to his Twitter account, Ice Cube explained how he had watched the Democratic National Convention and didn’t understand what they offered black-Americans.

Ice Cube said he heard a lot of cheering and roaring, but he didn’t hear what black Americans would get out of voting for the Democrats this year. He said all he heard was the “same old thing” for the black community, what they’ve always gotten from the political parties.

Furthermore, Ice Cube commented on the way in which Democrats are overly focused on removing Donald Trump from office, however, he doesn’t know what’s going to happen if the Democrats do get the seat in the Oval Office.

The rapper claimed Trump’s removal would happen on the first day, but what comes next in the following 100 days. “What do we actually get that they could give us overnight like that?” Ice Cube asked.

In case you missed it, the Democratic National Convention featured speakers like Barack Obama, Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, and many others. As it was noted above, Kamala Harris was just announced as Joe’s running mate earlier this year.

Hip-hop fans know Ice Cube has been a lot more politically active following the Black Lives Matter protests that began after the death of George Floyd while in police custody. George died after Derek Chauvin pressed his knee up against his neck for approximately eight minutes, suffocating him to death.

George’s death, which was caught on tape and shared online, sparked demonstrations around the world but primarily in the United States where the protests were the most ubiquitous.

On the topic of the black vote, even Trump wondered if Joe Biden deserved black-Americans support. Biden compared black-Americans unfavorably to the Latino community, spurring more backlash for the Democratic nominee’s various verbal blunders.
