The latest season in the Ryan Murphy’s American Crime Story series has been announced. Impeachment: American Crime Story is headed to FX in the fall of 2020, just in time for the presidential election.
After the success of The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story and The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, the third season was a given. It was previously revealed the third installment would be Katrina: American Crime Story.

However, the Katrina story never truly got off the ground. It was announced at the same time as The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story and was originally going to be released before the fashion icon’s story. Now it has been confirmed Katrina is dead and Impeachment is taking its place as season three.
FX chairman John Landgraf announced the new series this past week at TV Critics Association press tour.
“Impeachment: American Crime Story will explore the overlooked dimensions of the women who found themselves caught up in the scandal and political war that cast a long shadow over the Clinton presidency. We are grateful to Sarah Burgess for her brilliant adaptation, as well as Ryan Murphy, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Brad Falchuck, Larry Karaszewski, Scott Alexander, Alexis Martin Woodall, Sarah Paulson, and the rest of the creative team and cast,” he revealed.
Yes, the story will focus on Monica Lewinsky, who is set to executive produce and President Clinton oval office sex scandal. Impeachment: American Crime Story will be based on Jeffrey Toobin’s book A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President.

Paulson, who earned praise as Marcia Clark in The People v. O. J. Simpson, is set to play Linda Tripp, Beanie Feldstein will take on the role of Lewinsky. Annaleigh Ashford is on board to play Paula Jones. The characters of Bill and Hillary have yet to be cast but no doubt Murphy will find the perfect actors for the pivotal parts.
Impeachment: American Crime Story will be the third installment in the Ryan Murphy series.
The high-profile story is a perfect fit for the brand. Plus, the timing of its release is on point. It will play out in the weeks leading up to what will no doubt be a drama-filled election.
What are your thoughts on the next American Crime Story? Who do you think should play Bill and Hilary Clinton in the mini-series event?
