Meghan Markle celebrated the upcoming birth of her first child with a lavish baby shower in New York City – and some of Hollywood’s biggest stars were on hand to witness the special event.
Two of Markle’s close friends, Amal Clooney and Serena Williams, put on the shower. The bash was held at the Mark Hotel, which costs around $75,000 a night to reserve. Fortunately, the tennis icon fit the bill for the penthouse suite, which features over 10,000 square feet of space and overlooks the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Central Park.

According to Page Six, the guest list for the baby shower included some pretty heavy hitters in Hollywood. Oprah Winfrey, who was also present for the couple’s wedding last spring, was reportedly on hand for the party, as well as Markle’s former Suits co-stars Sarah Rafferty and Abigail Spener. Vampire Diaries alum Janina Gavankar also attended the party, along with celebrity designer Misha Noono and Priyanka Chopra.
Markle’s best friend, Jessica Mulroney, was also spotted arriving at the hotel. The only person missing was one of the Duchess of Sussex’s oldest friends, Heather Dorak, who could not make it because she just had a baby herself.
Between the lavish venue and a top quality catering service, the baby shower reportedly cost upwards of $200,000. While Markle could have easily paid for the entire party, her friends got together and made sure she did not get the bill, which is a good thing is you are a British taxpayer.

Apart from reserving the penthouse suite, the majority of the cost came from Markle’s private jet, which ran close to $100,000. Markle has not commented on her expensive baby shower, but it is good to know that her friends still have her back.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are set to welcome their first this April. They have yet to reveal the gender of the baby and are reportedly waiting until the birth to find out.
