Counting On stars Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth announced earlier this month that they are expecting their second child this November, making them the fifth couple in the family this year to announce a pregnancy. Now that fans have had a moment to process all of the Duggar baby news, many are wondering about Joy-Anna’s birth plan. Will she plan a home birth once again, or will she opt for a hospital after the complications she experienced during her first delivery?
When Joy-Anna was pregnant with Gideon, her first child, she spoke about her desire to have her baby at home, just like other members of her family. But, when the big moment arrived, she ended up laboring at home for 20 hours before the couple made the decision to rush Joy-Anna to the hospital.

Ahead of the delivery, Joy-Anna told People Magazine, “I really wanted to at least try it [home birth], and we’re only about 30 minutes from the hospital, so it’s not too bad in case of an emergency or a change of plans. [I’m feeling] somewhat nervous, trying not to be scared, but just prepared. I know that it’s going to be painful, there’s going to be a lot of emotions, but I know Austin is going to be there to support me.”
Joy-Anna ended up needing an emergency C-section, with Gideon arriving on February 23rd, 2018, and weighing in at 10 lbs. 3 oz.
The young couple recently shared the video and photos from their 10-week ultrasound for baby number two, and in the caption, Joy-Anna and Austin wrote that they are looking forward to meeting their new baby in six months, and added the hashtag #childrenareablessingfromgod.

“What a precious little miracle!” Joy-Anna’s big sister Jessa commented on the post, and Josh Duggar’s wife, Anna, added, “Such a precious little life!” Both Jessa and Anna are also expecting babies this year. Jessa is due any day now, and Anna is due this fall.
The 21-year-old has not yet revealed what her plans are for the delivery of baby number two. But, considering the history in the family of emergency trips to the hospital because a home birth didn’t go as planned, it’s possible Joy-Anna Duggar will follow in her sister Jinger’s footsteps and choose the hospital – and maybe even an epidural – this time around.
New episodes of Counting On will return to TLC later this year.
