We are in the golden age of reboots and revivals, with everything from Will & Grace to Fuller House already back on television, and talks of shows like Veronica Mars and Beverly Hills, 90210 returning soon. Now, the show that launched the careers of Blake Lively and Penn Badgley might be coming back to the CW. Of course, that show is Gossip Girl.

On Thursday, CW president Mark Pedowitz told TVLine that there is a discussion about bringing back Gossip Girl, but he isn’t sure yet what the show would be.

“A lot is up to Warner Bros. and [executive producers] Josh [Schwartz] and Steph[anie Savage], because you don’t want to do anything without them,” said Pedowitz.

Even though the show – which focused on the lives of wealthy teenagers living on New York’s Upper East Side  – was a cultural phenomenon during its six-season run between 2007 and 2012, it only achieved “mediocre ratings.”

However, it did make Lively a star, and she went on to appear in movies like The Town, Green Lantern, and The Shallows. And, Badgley has gone on to star in the Netflix series You.

According to Elle Magazine, Pedowitz didn’t talk about the reboot bringing back the original cast or if it would feature new faces. But, cast member Leighton Meester has said that she would at least be interested in a Gossip Girl reunion.

Meester explained that it is hard to commit to a reboot, but if everyone else wanted to do it and the timing was right, she doesn’t want to say “No, never.”

Lively has also expressed interest in doing a grown-up version of Gossip Girl with the original cast.

“It sort of all depends,” Lively said. “Would I do seven years of the show? No, because it’s hard work and I’ve got my babies, and I don’t want to be away from them that much. But I’ve just learned in life you never say never.”

Lively added that she is looking for projects where she could do things she hasn’t done yet. But, if a Gossip Girl reboot was good and made sense, then she wouldn’t necessarily say no because the cast had “so much fun” living and working in New York.
