There is no doubt that the Carpool Karaoke segment on The Late Late Show with James Corden is a fan favorite. However, a recent video has gone viral that exposes the fact that Corden isn’t actually driving during the segment, and it has fans questioning everything they know to be true.

On Wednesday, a Twitter user posted a video of Corden and Justin Bieber filming an upcoming Carpool Karaoke bit in Los Angeles. And, the video showed Corden behind the wheel of his famous black Range Rover…but a truck was towing the vehicle.

“Saw James corden and Justin Bieber filming carpool karaoke and this is why I have trust issues — he isn’t even driving!” Twitter user Zoli Honig wrote.

In just 24 hours, the clip received more than 11 million views and had been shared thousands of times. When fans saw the clip, there were two noticeable reactions. Some fans were upset that Corden had been deceiving his audience, while others praised the talk show host for thinking “safety first.”

“All along I used to respect James Corden for being able to concentrate on driving and singing at the same time,” wrote one fan. “But now I feel betrayed. So even the Amigos, Mariah Carey, Michelle Obama and the rest was just a lie.”

Another fan wrote that they actually feel better knowing that Corden isn’t actually driving because he’s noticed Corden’s eyes on the road maybe 30 percent of the time during the segment.

One fan pointed out that Corden’s Carpool Karaoke segment once featured Stevie Wonder behind the wheel for a moment, and wondered how everyone was shocked by the news that Corden isn’t actually driving.

Once the video went viral, The Late Late Show issued a statement that said Corden “always drives during Carpool Karaoke.” However, on the rare occasion that the segment requires a stunt component and the producers feel it is unsafe for him to drive, they will use a rig.
