According to Rolling Stone Magazine, Janice was a survivor of cervical cancer, lupus, as well as meningitis. When it was revealed she had passed away, many celebrities and social media figures reached out on Twitter and Instagram, including Jennifer Hudson, who described Freeman as a “blessing” as well as an “inspiration” for her perseverance as an artist struggling with the aforementioned illnesses.

Previously, in the 13th season of The Voice in 2017, Freeman was on the team of the “Wrecking Ball” singer, Miley Cyrus. During her time on the show, Mrs. Freeman advanced to the 11th spot. Janice sang the song, “Radioactive,” from Imagine Dragons as well as “Woman” from Etta James.

Despite the fact, her time on The Voice eventually came to an end, Freeman and Miley Cyrus continued their friendship. Miley even went so far as paying for a security deposit as well as six months’ rent for herself and her family.

On Instagram, Freeman posted a video in thanks for Cyrus, describing her as “my dawg,” and stating she would defend her “to the bitter end.” Our thoughts and prayers go out to Janice and her family.
