Amongst the many celebrities, who were present at The Staples Center to pay their respects to Nipsey Hussle were Jay-Z and his wife, Beyonce.

The power couple went incognito at the gathering with Beyonce wearing a huge hat to hide her face. Jay-Z used a quote from Dr. Howard Thurman to say that the late rapper was what is known as the new black man.

In his heartfelt letter, Jay shared: “Renown late Professor, Dr, Howard Thurman introduced us – many years ago – to the existence of a new black man…

…. there is something in every one of us that waits and listens for the sound of the genuine in ourselves and that IT is the only true guide that we would ever have. And that if we cannot hear it, we will all of our lives spend our days on the ends of strings that somebody else pulls!”

“Top of the top,” this is how Nip always greeted me in the morning as if he was reminding me that he was steadfastly holding on to the top of the top of his own life string and destiny!

So, Top of the top – Nip.

The world just got to see a flash of your brilliance.

You were a curious soul who was evolving at a speed that was truly inspiring.

The seeds you have planted are already bearing fruit.

The outpouring of admiration is testimony to the love and respect you’ve farmed.

Sleep well King; The Marathon continues as a line of energy for all of us to consider.

LOVE AND LIGHT, JAY”

One fan reacted to the letter by saying: “For those of you who do not believe in energy, I hope you feel it now…Nipsey energy was so prolific it touched the world.”

Another asked about Kendrick Lamar: “Have anyone seen Kendrick Lamar…is he ok…how is he taking Nipsey death…was he at the funeral.😢💙”

This supportive Instagrammer shared: “I hate how people keep saying they weren’t showing this much love when he was here. Clearly, they were looking at everyone that came out for this King, people all over the world been supporting Nip, listening to his music, following his grind/come up, his relationship, etc. Nip was all over my timeline & search before this even happened to him. But anyway RIP to a King the PAC of my generation. 💙🙏🏾”
