Jennifer Garner Reveals 'Pregnancies And Babies' Defined Her For Years

Jennifer Garner got candid about what has defined her life for the 25th anniversary of InStyle magazine.

The brunette beauty has had various transformations during her time in the Hollywood spotlight. Garner opened up about living life in the spotlight while going through different life roles.

“When you’re one of the ‘hot girls’ of the moment, you’re making choices that define you. I was defined first by choosing to go on hiatus, and then I was very quickly defined by pregnancies and babies. Now my choices are defined by different things,” the mother of three shared.

Dealing with fame is something the Alias alum has struggled with during her entire career. It was heightened when she married fellow Hollywood star, Ben Affleck. The paparazzi became even more curious about their lives, especially once they had children.

“I even stopped going to the farmers market because I was being photographed there constantly. I realized, ‘I’m ruining the farmers market for everyone; this is selfish,” the actress admitted.

Now with social media, Garner struggles with how much of her children’s lives, she should share with the public. Violet, age 13, Seraphina age 10, and son Samuel age 7 are all too familiar with having their photograph taken unwillingly. Garner and Affleck’s kids have become a magnet for photogs.

“I guard my kids’ privacy as much as I possibly can, and I’ve never posted pictures of them on Instagram. I’m sure there are times my kids would really love to see themselves reflected on social media in a fun way and to have the attention they would get from that. But I’ve fought too hard against it. It would feel hypocritical,” expressed the 47-year old.

Jennifer Garner is getting candid about being defined by pregnancy and babies. One thing that has helped her over the years is the female support she receives from other Hollywood ladies.

“I used to see Reese Witherspoon mainly because we have sons the same age. But she was really the only person in that kind of position in Hollywood that I could call. Now there are so any other women in the industry I can reach out to. Feeling like part of a whole instead of thinking, ‘Oh my gosh, I’d better hold on to my spot as tightly as I can or we’ll all be subsumed,’ has been the hugest gift and the biggest game-changer,” Garner stated.

The InStyle anniversary edition will be on sale August 16th.
