New Kids On The Block singer Donnie Wahlberg started off the new year with an amazing act of generosity, and his wife Jenny McCarthy couldn’t be more proud. McCarthy posted a pic on Twitter of their IHOP receipt on New Year’s Day which showed fans that Wahlberg had given their server a $2,020 tip, and she challenged others with the hashtag #2020tipchallenge.

Wahlberg and McCarthy enjoyed a meal at the IHOP in St. Charles, Illinois, and their bill totaled $78.45. It was clear in the photo that the Blue Bloods star had added the incredible gratuity, and he also left a hand-written note wishing the server, Bethany, a Happy New Year. The 50-year-old also wrote “2020 tip challenge” on the bottom of the receipt.

According to People Magazine, Wahlberg isn’t a stranger to the idea of leaving a big tip. In July 2017, Wahlberg added a $2,000 gratuity to his bill at a Waffle House in Charlotte, North Carolina. The singer and actor later explained on Instagram why he made such a generous gesture.

“My mom waited tables, and my dad tended bars– for years!” wrote Wahlberg. “So, when I walk into a #WaffleHouse, and the staff treats me like a king, you better believe I treat them like queens! Thanks to the team at @wafflehouseofficial Charlotte, NC!”

Wahlberg also tipped his server $500 at another Waffle House in Edgewater, Maryland. And, he tweeted a message of thanks to the staff of the restaurant for their “awesome service.”

McCarthy and Wahlberg got married in 2014, and she has sung his praises often in interviews and on social media. She once told the story of how Wahlberg paid for her son Evan’s college tuition as a Christmas present not long after they started dating.

The 47-year-old Masked Singer panelist told Page Six that at the time she was struggling as a single mom of a special needs child.  The Singled Out alum explained that she “lost it” when she received the gift because she had been worried about paying for Evan’s education when it was time for him to go to college.

After nearly a decade of hosting Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest, McCarthy opted to stay home this year with her husband and son because she has had such a busy year with numerous hosting duties. Both Donnie Wahlberg and Jenny McCarthy posted pics on Instagram of their night at home, snuggled up together while ringing in the new year.
