Ronnie Ortiz-Magro has spent the last month in rehab working on himself so he can be the best father to his little girl.
The Jersey Shore star is no stranger to drama on and off-screen. However, he has been working hard to eliminate some of the craziness after he admitted to hitting rock bottom at the beginning of the year.
US Weekly sat down with the 33-year-old to discuss his decision to seek treatment at Headwaters Treatment Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. He left the facility last Friday.
“I decided to go to treatment because I wanted to be a better person, a better father for my daughter. Eventually, all the bad decisions I was making were going to lead me to places that I didn’t want to be. I wanted to be led to the place that I am now that’s happy, healthy and the best role model for my daughter,” Ortiz-Magro shared.

Not long after filming the second season of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, he realized that seeking treatment for depression and alcohol abuse was something he desperately needed. It has been a rough year for the reality TV star, who has been involved in some serious drama with on-again-off-again girlfriend, Jen Harley. She is also the mother of his 10-month-old daughter Ariana.
Along with admitting he wants to create a better quality of life for his family, Ortiz-Magro shared that as his depression grew, he would turn to alcohol to deal with it. Those actions led him to self-destructive behavior as anger and resentment over his life choices would grow. It was a vicious cycle that eventually led him to realize that he was no longer in control of his life.
One month may not seem like it could make that much of a difference. However, the reality TV star insists that he is in a healthier and happier place.
He is feeling good now, but Ronnie Ortiz-Magro is fully aware his battle is far from over. Depression is going to be a struggle for him forever, but after years of not dealing with his issues, the father of one is facing his demons.

The subject of Ortiz-Margo needing rehab was brought to light on the first season of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation as his friend’s concern for his well-being mounted.
Months later he finally got the help he so desperately needed.
