The director suffered a major stroke earlier this month, more precisely on April 17 and it unfortunately seems like his health has not improved. In fact, John Singleton is reported to be in a coma.

Furthermore, according to legal documents obtained by E! News, his mother has requested to be made his temporary conservator since, Singleton is ‘unable to provide for his personal needs, or manage his financial resources.’

The papers also reveal that he was ‘engaged in several business projects and was prepared to sign a lucrative settlement agreement’ just a few weeks following the stroke.

As a result, his mom has requested a judge to offer her the legal clearance to deal with his business in his stead while he recovers.

Previous reports confirmed the 51-year-old Boyz n the Hood director and screenwriter’s health scare last Saturday

The family released a statement via E! News that reads: ‘On Wednesday, April 17th our beloved son/father, John Singleton, suffered a stroke while at the hospital. John is currently in the ICU and under great medical care. We ask that privacy be given to him and our family at this time and appreciate all of the prayers that have been pouring in from his fans, friends and colleagues.’

At first Singleton checked into a hospital due to having leg pain, one insider shared via Variety.

The same report claimed the medical specialists thought it was a ‘mild’ stroke but were doing more tests.

Unfortunately, as it seems, the diagnosis was much scarier since he actually had a major one that seriously puts his life in danger.

Hopefully, Singleton is going to wake up from his coma and recover soon.
