According to a report from Just Jared, Jonah Hill has chosen to respectfully bow out of the upcoming The Batman film starring Robert Pattinson. Variety was the first to report that after Jonah was considered to play the villain in the film, directed by Matt Reeves, he changed his mind.

Moreover, the outlet stated that Jonah’s role was never really hammered out fully, and his inclusion was in the earliest stages of negotiations. Variety claims the deal was far away from actually being struck and signed.

As it was previously reported by Suzy Kerr back in September of this year, Jonah was in talks to join the film following the announcement that Zoe Kravitz would star as Selina Kyle, aka, Catwoman, in the new movie starring the Twilight alum, Robert Pattinson.

It was reported in September by multiple outlets that Jonah would be starring as the villain, however, as it was noted above, that has since fallen through. The producers for The Batman chose Jonah as the number one pick for the antagonist and even had him in the back of their minds before they chose Pattinson as the titular character.

Hill was reportedly kept in mind while producers decided on whether or not they would hire the Good Times alum. The Batman is supposed to begin filming by the ending of this year and has been pushed through by the studio due to the fact it has been shelved for a number of years.

Ben Affleck, who has also starred as The Batman, was the first director of the project but has since handed it off to Reeves. He gave him the job back in January of 2017. Supposedly, Reeves chose to explore the beginning of Bruce Wayne’s entrance into the underworld as a detective, as well as his transition into becoming Batman.

However, Ben chose to step away from the project at that time. In May, Reeves cast Pattinson for the role, but the actor wasn’t thrilled when the news hit the press.

As it was noted above, Robert first became a massive star with the success of the Twilight franchise but has since gone on to receive critical acclaim for other productions, including Good Times. Jonah Hill, on the other hand, first came to prominence in the 2007 film, Superbad.
