According to the Huffington Post, it turns out that actor, Josh Brolin, struggled with alcoholism for years, and this past Tuesday, the star celebrated his fifth year of sobriety after many nights of heavy drinking. The star took to his social media recently to explain his old-school drinking days and how he was happy to leave it all behind.

On Tuesday, he uploaded a photograph of himself in which he looked totally drunk and he wrote about the dark sides of partying, or a “rip-roaring time,” as he described it. You can check out Josh’s explanation of his party days below:

From what the No Country For Old Men star wrote on the platform, it’s clear that he doesn’t look back on those days with rose-colored glasses. In fact, he’s incredibly grateful for having the determination to leave it all behind.

The 50-year-old Hollywood actor described the days when he wouldn’t remember anything the night before and would have to call some of his friends to figure out what had happened the following morning.

Josh insinuated that it was a cautionary tale for others to at least notice or acknowledge: burning the candle at both ends has negative consequences and repercussions. Thankfully, Brolin has moved on from those problems and is now one of the most respected stars in Hollywood.

Recently, Josh’s appearence in last year’s Deadpool 2 was hailed by critics. Richard Roeper, writing for the Chicago-Sun Times, said – albeit quasi-jokingly, that Deadpool 2 was the greatest sequel since The Godfather 2.

A.O. Scott of the New York Times was a little more cynical and said the pessimistic nature of the film was a tad bit negative while at the same time not at all revolutionary.

Some of Brolin’s more critically acclaimed films include No Country For Old Men in which he starred alongside Tommy Lee Jones and Javier Bardem. Created by the Coen brothers, the film has been described as one of their greatest productions yet. Josh’s next film to come out is in 2019, Avengers: Endgame, the last of the series and arguably the most anticipated.
