A judge has ruled Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are officially single again. More than two years after the couple announced their divorce, both can now call themselves single.
Despite their divorce not being finalized, from a legal perspective, Jolie and Pitt are free to be single and mingle. It is a legal move called bifurcation and according to The Blast, was a move the famous pair requested from the court. The website obtained the court documents from the latest motion and ruling involving the Hollywood A-listers.

By filing and being granted a bifurcation, the couple formerly known as Brangelina, is essentially legally ending their marriage, while they continue to hash out a final divorce settlement. Even though the 43-year-old Jolie and 55-year-old Pitt wanted to be single legally, it has nothing to do with either one of them being in a new relationship or wanting a new relationship.
The source tells The Blast, the bifurcation was a move they both felt strongly about, so each one could emotionally make a break from the other. By legally declaring they are single, Pitt and Jolie can focus on finalizing the most crucial part of their divorce, custody of their children. They also have a slew of expensive assets that needed to be divided up but what is best for their children, is their main priority right now.
Custody of Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh Vivienne, and Knox has been a sticking point for soon to be exes. Although in November a temporary custody agreement was reached, the parents have been embroiled in a nasty battle since the day the divorce news broke. The custardy drama has died down a little bit after the temporary arrangement, with Jolie and Pitt appearing to work more amicably towards a finalized agreement.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are back on the market, from a legal perceptive. Even though they have primarily been single since they filed for divorce, now they are legally single. Neither one has dated since they called it quits. However, they continue to take steps to move forward with their lives and put their past behind them.
If all goes well, the former couple will hopefully have all aspects of their divorce finalized by the end of 2019, which will be three years after they filed to dissolve their marriage.
