As you may know, Jussie Smollett is currently involved in a bizarre scandal! It all started with the Empire actor filing a report in which he claimed that two men wearing ski masks attacked him because of his race and sexual orientation! But soon enough, doubts that his claims were true started to gather and now, the Chicago Police Department announced that he is officially a ‘suspect’ for filing a fake report.

Chief of Communications Officer Anthony Guglielmi took to Twitter earlier today to announce: ‘Case Update: Jussie Smollett is officially classified as a suspect in a criminal investigation by #ChicagoPolice now for filing a false police report (Class 4 felony). Detectives are currently presenting evidence before a Cook County Grand Jury.’

Meanwhile, TMZ reports that the original hate crime suspects, brothers Ola and Abel Osundairo are getting ready to testify against Smollett.

Apparently, during their first interrogation, the men, one of them a former extra on the show, claimed Smollett paid them to stage the attack, and they even rehearsed it beforehand!

If he is found guilty, the actor faces up to three years behind bars for felony charges.

Smollett has been denying the accusations against him via his legal team.

Furthermore, while on Good Morning America, he also shared some details about the supposed assault to host Robin Roberts.

‘I cannot tell you what color their eyes were… and I didn’t see anything except the second man I saw running away. And the first man, yeah, I saw his stature. I gave the description as best as I could. You have to understand that it is also Chicago, in winter. People can wear ski masks, and no one’s going to question that.’
