As fans know, Justin Bieber pranked his followers yesterday on April Fool’s Day, making it seem like his model wife, Hailey Baldwin is expecting their first child. The singer simply posted one of the first ultrasound pics that show up on google when you search ‘ultrasound!’

That being said, many users were not impressed, some slamming the joke as uninspired, while others were actually offended since it seemed like a mockery of those who struggle with fertility issues and cannot have babies of their own.

Seeing the backlash, the singer decided to ‘take full responsibility’ and apologize for the ‘insensitive’ prank, making it clear that he did not realize his post might hurt somebody.

He started by defending himself, saying that ‘There’s always going to be people offended, there’ is also people who do not take jokes well, I’m a prankster and it was APRIL FOOL’S. I did not mean to be insensitive to people who cannot have children. A lot of people I know, their first go to prank on April fool’s is telling their parents they’re pregnant to get a big reaction.’

But Justin went on to ‘apologize anyway and take responsibility and say sorry to people who were offended. I truly do not want anyone to be hurt by a prank. It is like when I shoved cake in my little sister’s face for her birthday expecting her to laugh but she cried.’

He pointed out that sometimes, you just don’t realize a certain action can have different results than expected.

Justin was quick to mention that he was in no way comparing the cake in the face thing with the struggles some people go through to get pregnant, as to avoid even more unnecessary backlash.
