K. Michelle has recently decided to open up about her past — more specifically, the part where she used to work as a stripper — and she also shared her two cents on the current situation around her former boyfriend, R. Kelly.
Michelle did not seem overly critical towards the singer and songwriter — entirely on the contrary, and she was more reserved in her judgments than most other people have been so far.
Still, she shared some words about the situation and explained that she was mostly disappointed with the way people were treating Kelly.
And in a somewhat controversial statement, Michelle even drew comparisons to Elvis Presley, claiming that if he had no problems picking up his wife at 14 from high school, then it was strange that Kelly was being treated differently.
Michelle revealed: “I was standing in the booth as they were (sic) taking him into jail, and I was looking through the booth at the TV.”
Michelle added: “To be standing in the booth and to see that, I just lost it. That was a lot because I know right is right and wrong is wrong but, I don’t have a heaven or a hell to put this person in. We are not [the ones to judge]. I do know that if Elvis can pick up his wife at 14 from high school, all I want is the same energy.”
However, some supporters of the King of Rock ‘n Roll have pointed out that the situations of the two celebrities are not the same at all, and Kelly is in a lot more trouble in the public’s eye than Presley has ever been.
She also stated: “I’m not gonna defend this man (R. Kelly). I know, for me, yes, he is a controlling man, but he would control my music. He would tell me ‘you gonn’ sit in here with the same clothes on until you finish this song because it needs to be amazing.’”
Kelly himself has not commented much on the things said by his former partner, though he has made it clear so far that he has no plans to back down from his position, and he is going to continue fighting for his freedom as best as he can.
Opinions on the crooner are a bit divided at the moment, with many people questioning whether he is indeed guilty, but most seem to be leaning towards that conclusion.
