Donald Trump may have in a way, lost one of the greatest endorsements he ever received. In an interview with David Letterman for his Netflix series, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction Kanye West spoke about his support for President Trump and the fear that many African-Americans who support Trump experience. He revealed that he works with many black people including African-American women who voted for Trump and are scared to tell others about it.
Kanye said the following when he spoke about why he wears the MAGA hat.
“It’s not about politics, it’s not about policies. For me, once again: Fear. I got people that I work with, black, female, all different types of people that I work with that love Trump, voted for Trump, scared for life to tell anyone.”
David Letterman turned to Kanye West and directly asked him if he voted for Donald Trump.
Kanye West turned to him and said, “I’ve never voted in my life.”
David Letterman pointed his finger up in the air, reclined in his seat, and said, “Then…then you don’t have a say in this.”
Much of the audience cheered and applauded.
Though Kanye had made similar statements before they shone a light on the fact that Donald Trump has repeatedly stated he loves Kanye, the two have held meetings together, Kim Kardashian-West has met with President Trump and Trump signed legislation for the First Step Act, yet Kanye didn’t vote for the President and Kim Kardashian-West has made her political views public.

The topic of Trump became a little heated and it was clear that David Letterman and Kanye West did not see eye to eye on the subject. David Letterman abruptly interjected and ended the conversation to change the topic to something more positive.
Though David Letterman agreed that there shouldn’t be bullying involved he felt that the people who voted for Trump may find themselves not receiving the benefits from this administration that they expected and would ultimately be let down.
What do you think about Kanye being one of Donald Trump’s most prominent African-American supporters yet he didn’t vote for him? Kanye didn’t say if he plans to start voting and will vote for Trump in 2020.
