Kanye West spoke at Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church on Sunday, November 17, 2019, where he shared his testimony about dedicating his life completely to his faith in Jesus Christ. His wife, Kim Kardashian and six-year-old daughter North were in attendance and were seated in the front row. Kanye and his Sunday Service choir will return for the evening service where they will sing songs from Kanye’s chart-topping Jesus Is King album. Lakewood Church will live stream the service on several social media platforms.
Though the church was filled with people there were plenty of controversies online by those who didn’t feel Kanye should attend the service.
Joel Osteen spoke first and said that he wanted Kanye to speak to the congregation ahead of the Sunday Night service that will be live-streamed online via the Lakewood Church website, Facebook live, and YouTube live. He encouraged Kanye West to share his a bit about his personal testimony.
The video portion of Kanye West sharing his testimony with Lakewood Church and the world is going viral. Joel pointed out that Kanye has undergone something in his personal life over the past year that has resulted in a dramatic change and a new album, movie, and tour.
Kanye spoke about the mental breakdown he suffered, and how even then he felt that God was placing it in his heart to start a church.
Kanye West stated the following.
“When I was in my lowest points, God was there with me and sending me visions and inspiring me. I remember sitting in the hospital at UCLA after having a breakdown and there’s documentations of me drawing a church and writing about starting a church in the middle of Calabasas. Even after that I made the Life of Pablo album and said this is a gospel album. I didn’t know how to totally make a gospel album and the Christians that were around were too beaten into submission by society to not speak up and profess the gospel to me because I was a superstar. But the only superstar is Jesus.”
