When asked where he was going to put the prize, he responded: ‘I’m gonna put it next to my mom. I’m just happy I got this for her. I told her I wanted to get her this win and get her this ball. I was just happy I was able to get it done. I don’t even recognize most of my other games and years I’ve played and how I felt those days. If I can be honest with y’all for a second, I mean, I don’t really recall or really care.’

He went on to say when he became numb which was the day of his mother’s death.

‘I only know what happened from April 13 on. Because you may see me smiling and stuff, but that Karl died on April 13. He’s never coming back. I don’t remember that man. I don’t know that man. You’re talking to the physical me, but my soul has been killed off a long time ago.’

His mother isn’t the only person he lost since the start of the pandemic. He also had to say goodbye to seven other family members.

‘I’ve been through a lot, obviously starting out with my mom. I’ve seen a lot of coffins in the last seven months, eight months. But I have a lot of people who have — in my family and my mom’s family — who have gotten Covid. I’m the one looking for answers still, trying to find how to keep them healthy. It’s just a lot of responsibility on me to keep my family well-informed and to make all the moves necessary to keep them alive.’
