Kate Middleton Makes Final Call For Entries For Her Community Photography Project 'Hold Still'

Kate Middleton is spearheading a national photography project in the UK that aims to capture images that show how the country handled the COVID-19 pandemic.The campaign is called “Hold Still,” and the Duchess of Cambridge has urged her Instagram followers to enter the project before the deadline.

In a new video posted to the Kensington Palace Instagram page, Middleton asked for more submissions that show the United Kingdom in lockdown.

“There have been so many amazing entries in the last few weeks. But it isn’t too late to take part so please take a moment to capture what life is like for you. I can’t wait to share the final 100 entries with you,” said Middleton, a patron of the National Portrait Gallery.

As fans know, the Duchess is a keen ameteur photographer herself, and over the years she has shared portraits of her children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis – that she has taken. However, with this project, Middleton’s focus is not her immediate family. Instead, she wants to showcase how UK citizens made it through such a difficult time together.

According to The Daily Mail, Middleton will personally curate the final 100 photographs for the Hold Still exhibition, which will be available for free online.

Middleton has been giving fans updates on social media to show off some of her favorite submissions so far. Some of the photos she shared recently included neighbors practicing social distancing and exhausted healthcare workers. Another featured kids who live next door to each other out in front of their houses playing musical instruments together.

“Every story matters and telling yours during lockdown is what this project is all about, so please take the time to share your images and experiences before Thursday 18th June at 6pm,” read the caption of one of Middleton’s updates.

Kate Middleton admits she has been “struck” by all of the “incredible” photos that have been submitted to the project. She says they have given us insight into people’s stories and experiences throughout the pandemic, with some showing “the human tragedy” of this event.

Hold Still is completely free to enter and open to the public. The three core themes of the project are: “Helpers and Heroes,” “Acts of Kindness,” and “Your New Normal.” The idea is to “hold still” for others during the pandemic so we can keep everyone safe. The project is also a reminder that human connection during adversity is extremely important.
