Katie Couric, Alexandria Ocasio-Corte and more are supporting Meghan Markle after her candid interview on media scrutiny.
The Duchess of Sussex gave an emotional and raw interview on Friday regarding being attacked in the media. Since the day Markle and Prince Harry announced their engagement, she has been crucified by the British press.
Now the new mom is fighting speaking out. In a glimpse at the upcoming documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey for ITV, Markle was asked by a journalist, Tom Bradby how she was doing.
Remember the Meghan and Harry engagement interview? Look how happy and fun she was. This is the Meghan before the British media started their hate campaign. I’d like to see this Meghan again. #WeLoveYouMeghanpic.twitter.com/vgJ3Wvqxhe

“Any woman, especially when they’re pregnant, you’re really vulnerable. So, that was made really challenging. And, then when you have a newborn, and especially as a woman, it’s a lot. So, you add this on top of just trying to be a new mom or trying to be a newlywed. I guess also thank you for asking because not many people have asked if I’m okay, but it’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes,” an emotional Markle expressed in a newly released video clip.
Immediately following her candid remarks, social media became flooded with support for Prince Harry’s wife. The former Suits star is gaining support from some famous faces who are letting Markle know they are in her corner.
“I so admire #MeghanMarkle for being honest, open and vulnerable about the struggles she’s faced as a new mother and very public figure. #WeLoveYouMeghan,” Tweeted Katie Couric.
“Thank you for asking, bc not many people have asked if I’m ok. Sudden prominence is a very dehumanizing experience. There’s a part of your life that you lose, & it later dawns on you that you’ll never get it back. The people who treat you like a human make all the difference,” shared Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Meghan Markle’s @itvnews interview shouldn’t just be a reality check for those of us working in the press. We all should be asking those whom we care about, even if we consider them to be privileged, whether they’re okay. pic.twitter.com/7Nw6dshX0o

“Is there a P.O. Box where women can just send notes to Meghan Markle? Being like “Have a really nice day, Meghan!” and “WHO DO I NEED TO FIGHT TODAY, MEGHAN?” Like, just so she knows? She lives in THE tightest bubble and I just want her to know we’re out here!!!” said Jordan Crucchiola, an editor of Vulture.
Those are only a few examples of people showing support for Meghan Markle, as the British press continues to hound her. Prince Harry recently compared what the media is doing to his wife to that of what his late mother Princess Diana endured.
The support and kindness could make all the difference to Markle who is struggling to deal with her rise to fame in the royal family.
