Kelly Dodd Is Reportedly Behind Vicki Gunvalson's Demotion On RHOC

Real Housewives of Orange County producers reportedly decided to shake things up next season by demoting Vicki Gunvalson to friend status. While Gunvalson is thinking about accepting or denying the offer, sources claim that RHOC star Kelly Dodd was behind the shocking move.

The two have been feuding ever since Gunvalson set up Dodd’s former husband, Michael Dodd, with one of her close friends. Dodd confronted Gunvalson about playing matchmaker with her ex during the reunion, and Gunvalson responded by accusing her former friend of using cocaine.

Shortly after the reunion aired, Dodd took to social media and vowed to quit the show if Gunvalson wasn’t punished for her actions.

An inside source told Radar Online that Gunvalson knew she might be disciplined for what she said during the reunion and did her best to cover her tracks. But Dodd understood that Gunvalson had slipped up and took advantage of the situation.

“Kelly was angry, and she had every right to be,” the insider explained. “She wasn’t going to let it go and Kelly is absolutely responsible for Vicki getting canned.”

The source added that Gunvalson thought she was above being fired because of everything she has survived in previous seasons. This includes her infamous cancer scandal with Brooks Ayers in 2015, which made the OG of the OC believe that the rules do not apply to her anymore. What she didn’t take into consideration was how much producers valued Dodd’s contribution to the show.

After Dodd issued Bravo an ultimatum, they opted to keep her on board and give Gunvalson the cold shoulder. Not only does Kelly Dodd bring fresh drama to the series, but insiders think Gunvalson’s storyline has run its course over the past two years.

It is unclear if Gunvalson will accept the offer and appear in a limited role next season. Production for Season 14 of the Real Housewives of Orange County, meanwhile, has already started – and Gunvalson has been nowhere in sight. Vicki Gunvalson has yet to confirm her role next season, though she did caution fans that she is in negotiations.
