Hot New Hip Hop reported today that over the last few weeks, the internet has unsuccessfully tried to cancel two respected rappers, J. Cole, and Kendrick Lamar. The outlet says that people online thought that neither party, J. Cole, nor Kendrick Lamar, contributed to the worldwide Black Lives Matter protests.

However, they reportedly were on the front lines. The President of Top Dawg Entertainment, Kendrick Lamar’s record label, came out to say that people aren’t appreciative of the efforts the rapper has been making. For that reason, he may not come back.

A social media user asked when Kendrick Lamar would return to the limelight, and the president of the organization, Punch, said that he wouldn’t come back because “n*ggas don’t appreciate it.” Fans of the performing artist know that he hasn’t been active in public for a while now.

According to Hot New Hip Hop, no one knows when Kendrick Lamar will start working again, but rumor has it that he’s currently in the middle of a new record. It was supposed to come out this year, but with Punch’s tweet in mind, this might not happen.

Regarding J. Cole, the artist faced backlash on the internet for his new song, “Snow On Tha Bluff,” in which he addresses Noname’s social activity. The rapper reportedly doesn’t like her “queen-like” tone, and people think he’s being sexist.

Earlier this year, Kendrick Lamar was in the headlines for another reason, although, he wasn’t directly involved. French Montana stirred controversy in the hip-hop community after he said that he had more hits than Kendrick, and he would likely be a better performer at a festival.

His remarks didn’t go down well with other esteemed members of the community, including Young Thug, who spent the following days feuding with him online.

In all fairness, however, French Montana did express massive respect to Kendrick Lamar, describing him as one of the greats, and also referring to his album’s as “masterpieces.”
