Say what you want about the Kardashians, but the family really knows how to make money. Kim Kardashian’s new SKIMS Solutionwear launched on Tuesday, September 10th, and within minutes it sold $2 million in product.

According to TMZ, nearly every item sold out in record time after a successful social media marketing push caused the website to crash before the products went on sale. There was so much traffic to the site that Kardashian had to delay the launch by one hour. The brand’s campaign featured Alice Marie Johnson – the woman Kardashian helped get out of prison – and 25 other women modeling the products and speaking about how SKIMS “empowers them to feel the best version of themselves.”

To give you an idea of just how crazy successful this launch was, Spanx made $4 million in profits during their first year on the market. Kardashian’s new line features a mixture of shapewear items – from thongs to bodysuits – and all of them are priced between $18 and $98. The line offers nine different tonal hues and sizes up to 5XL.

The reviews for SKIMS have been nothing short of amazing. In a People Magazine feature, 12 female editors of different ages, shapes, and sizes tried different products from the new line, and everyone raved about the shapewear.

“This shapewear was amazing. I’ve never felt I had a big need for it until now, but KKW’s shapewear specifically really gives you that beautiful hourglass shape that accentuates the waist and does all the work of sucking in for you” said People publicist Paula Ngon.

Kim says she started the new line because she was always altering the products that were available on the market. The colors were never right, and she often cut one leg off the bottoms to wear underneath a high-slit dress.

The mom-of-four says that she noticed a lot of people don’t wear shapewear because they feel claustrophobic or too restricted, but everyone has told her that isn’t the case with SKIMS.

After selling out of their initial inventory so quickly, Kim Kardashian’s team immediately went into action to replace the inventory and produce more products.

Reps for SKIMS have not yet confirmed the amazing first-day sales numbers.
