Spoiler Alert: If you haven’t watched the latest episode of ‘Game of Thrones’ please do so before coming back to this article. Kit Harington recently revealed that he was just as shocked as viewers when it was revealed that Arya Stark killed the Night King and not his character.
Avid ‘GOT’ fans have been bracing themselves for the biggest action episode since ‘Battle of the Bastards’ and were completely shocked when the youngest Stark took a legendary jab at the Night King and killed him in mid-air. Readers of the books and viewerss of the show know that it is heavily implied that Jon Snow or Daenerys Targaryen were the only two who could’ve put an end to the endless night bringer and his army of White Walkers.
Kit Harington told Entertainment Weekly: “I was slightly pissed off I was on a dragon, it stops me from fighting in a crowd. It’s going to look cool but I wanted, in some ways — just as Jon does — to get back down on the ground. The fact he can fly a dragon means he has to but his place is down there amongst the sword swingers.”
Kit wasn’t the only one who questioned the decision, Maisie Williams was also surprised that her character was chosen to save the day.
“I immediately thought that everybody would hate it; that Arya doesn’t deserve it”
She then realized that Arya was the only one who had the training to outsmart the enemy.
“When we did the whole bit with Melisandre, I realized the whole scene with [the Red Woman] brings it back to everything I’ve been working for over these past 6 seasons—4 if you think about it since [Arya] got to the House of Black and White. It all comes down to this one very moment. It’s also unexpected and that’s what this show does. So then I was like, ‘F*** you Jon, I get it.'”
If you thought episode three was insane, Emelia Clarke claims that the fifth installment of the final season will be even bigger.
Do you think the writers made the right decision?
